ST. CROIX — A woman who told police that she was raped at a bus stop in Christiansted, received medical attention at the Juan F. Luis Hospital following the incident, according to a press release issued late Monday by Sakeeda Freeman, the VIPD’s media specialist.
Ms. Freeman said at close to midday on Saturday, January 16, officers received notification of a rape victim seeking treatment at JFL.
Officers then met with the victim, a 36-year-old female, who stated that on the morning of January 15, at roughly 9:00 a.m., she was sitting at the bus stop adjacent to Amigo’s Gas Station, when a vagrant/homeless man approached her. According to the victim, the man then assaulted her, pinned her down and raped her at the bus stop.
The victim said she was familiar with the man that attacked her and provided police with a description and information in regards to where he can be located.
Police continue to investigate the incident, according to Ms. Freeman.
