A woman, identified as Nadia Welsh, was killed about 9:40 PM Monday in a shooting incident at Morne du Don, police have confirmed.
She sustained a gunshot wound to the head, it was reported.
A male individual, identified as Clint Gaillard, was also injured in the attack, the police have said.
According to information, the two were sitting in a vehicle when gunmen opened fire.
So far for the year there have been 42 homicides.
On Monday at a news conference, Police Commissioner, Severin Moncherry, admitted that the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) was not meeting its targets and announced that new anti-crime strategies would be adopted that would be “more head on – more aggressive and targetted.”
Moncherry spoke against the backdrop of a sharp increase in gun violence in the capital.
