Two people were airlifted to safety via helicopter after their sailing vessel – ‘Tyago’, sank between Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent, Martinique 1ere has reported.
According to the publication, a search for the two began on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 7 pm.
Two ships in the area – the French flagged ‘Club Med 2’ and the Liberian registered container vessel ‘San Cristobal’, took part in the search and rescue operation along with the French navy frigate ‘Ventose’.
The two men, who were hoisted to safety by helicopter, had spent some five hours in the water clinging to a cooler.
They were later treated by medical staff aboard the French navy vessel.
