Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 24, 2016 (RSCNPF): The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is currently investigating a shooting incident of three persons, with the death of one (1) in the Basseterre area. The shooting occurred at around 1.15pm today (January 24).

Initial investigations revealed that the victims were shot on Upper Thibou Avenue by an unknown assailant(s). The victims were taken to the J. N. France General Hospital.

Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit have canvassed the scene for evidence. The investigation is ongoing.

In an appeal for assistance from the Public, Commissioner(Ag) of Police Mr. Stafford Liburd said, “We urge anyone who may have seen any unusual activity in the area that could be benefit to this investigation to contact the Police, your information can be critical to this investigation. Persons with information that can assist the police in this crime, or any other crime can call any Police Station in the federation or Crime Stoppers, our confidential hotline, at 1-800-8477 to share information,” stressed Commissioner Liburd.
