St.Kitts-Nevis Prepares for Arrival of World’s Largest Cruise Ship

Bird Rock, Basseterre, St. Kitts (Tuesday 25th April 2017) – The SCASPA St.Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority  along with the rest of the Federation awaits with overwhelming anticipation the arrival of the  world’s largest cruise ship, MS Harmony of the Seas, on Wednesday 3rd May, 2017.

The imposing yet graceful vessel will be ably berthed with the assistance of SCASPA’s qualified and efficient pilots as it lulls in our azure waters from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the day of its inaugural call. As is customary with cruise inaugural calls, a welcome ceremony is planned where delegates from St. Kitts Tourism, the St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority, Agents and other dignitaries will officially welcome Harmony, the third Oasis-Class Cruise ship in the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, to the shores of St. Kitts.  MS Harmony of the Seas has been recorded as the world’s largest passenger ship in the world, surpassing her older sisters Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas.

 

Harmony of the Seas was floated out in June 2015, and began its first sea trials in 2016 and is now expected to make its grand appearance at our Port Zante Cruise terminal This 362.12 metre long, ‘Giant of the Seas’, boasts of some 2,747 staterooms, with a wide variety of types, to accommodate 5,479 passengers at double occupancy with 6,780 at maximumHarmony is the second Royal Caribbean ship to feature water slides, such as, the most noticeably “Ultimate Abyss” dry slide at the stern of the ship and the “Perfect Storm” water slides.

The ship is divided into seven neighborhoods, including Central Park and Boardwalk, like her Oasis-class sisters.

The 2016/17 cruise season in St. Kitts continues to progress smoothly with Harmony of the Seas being the 7th Inaugural call of the expected 17.
