Professor of Law at Cave Hill Barbados Eddy Ventose has been appointed a Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court

 

St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Professor of Law at Cave Hill Barbados Eddy Ventose has been appointed a Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and assigned as a resident high court judge for St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Chair of the Judicial and Legal Services Commission informed that Professor Ventose had been appointed as High Court Judge, Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court with effect from 1st September 2018, and Justice Ventose took the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance in St. Kitts and Nevis on Monday.

In 2012, at 35 years Ventose, who was born in Martinique and grew up in St Lucia, earned the designation professor of law, making him the youngest person in the history of the University of the West Indies (UWI) to be promoted to a personal professorship.

Justice Ventose will replace Her Honor Pearletta Lanns, who had served as an Acting High Court Judge assigned to St. Kitts and Nevis since April 2017.

His Lordship Ventose will serve alongside Justice Trevor Warde QC in the high court in St. Kitts.
