The exercise commenced on Sunday, May 31st, with a “soft” opening ceremony at Camp Springfield.
Throughout the week, aspects of the disaster management community were tested based on specific response roles. On Wednesday 3rd, the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) on St. Kitts and the EOC on Nevis, were activated in response to the impact of fictitious Hurricane Christobal, a category 3 weather system, that caused exponential consequences.
Various disaster management agencies congregated at the NEOC and EOC to manage the disaster as required in a real event. The NEOC Executive was staffed with senior officials from NEMA and the St. Christopher and Nevis Royal Police Force.
The Prime Minister was accompanied on his familiarisation tour by the Director of US SOUTHCOMs Tradewinds 2015, Doug Fitzgerald, who introduced him to the Combined Exercise Control Group (CECG), within the White Cell.

Prime Minister  Harris spoke with the ground operations role players. Role players were used during the exercise in scenarios that tested the response of local government and partner nation security forces. Tradewinds 2015 is a joint, combined exercise conducted in conjunction with partner nations to enhance the collective abilities of defense forces and constabularies to counter transnational organized crime and to conduct humanitarian/disaster relief operations.
