Robelto Hector

Basseterre, St.Kitts (June 15th, 2018):- Former MP and candidate of the main opposition Nevis Reformation Party (NRP), Elhansville Robelto. Hector has withdrawn his election petition case against the Honourable Spencer Brand of the Concerned Citizens Movement CCM. This took place on Monday, just days before the trial was set to commence.

Hector lost the St. Paul’s Parish constituency by 11 votes to Spencer Brand as the Concerned Citizens Movement regained control of the NIA winning four of the five seats that were at stake in the polls.

Hector filed the  election petition in which he claimed that the Supervisor of Elections wrongly removed dozens of names from the Voters List. The claim was supported by a  number of persons including well known NRP Political Activists Dr. Kelvin Daly, Lauren Pemberton and Kevin Huggins who took to traditional and social media as well as the streets of  Nevis claiming that there was massive fraud in the elections.

The allegation of fraud has seemingly found little or no basis in fact as Hector and his Attorney  applied to the court to withdraw his election petition just days before the trial was set to begin.

Hector will now have to face a costs hearing at the Nevis high court where costs will be assessed for the lawyers for the Supervisor of Elections, Attorney General, and the Honourable Spencer Brand all of whom were brought before the courts for a case that has now been exposed as frivolous . It is estimated that Hector may face an order of upwards of  close to $2 million in costs  .
