SANDY POINT, St. Kitts & Nevis (May 29th): Back and forth. Forth and back. And forth again. A game of runs!
The PRIDE on Saturday following a fast start, held on in a rugged finish for a 80-73 victory over the Achievers WolfPack in a second round showdown of two SKABA Premier league hopefuls!
Taslin ‘Mini’ Belboda scored 16 points 6 assists 2 steals and Sheeno ‘Jeezy’ Liddie added 10 pts and 7 rebs last night as PRIDE beat WolfPack 80-73, to improve to 10-0.
Both teams traded runs all game but PRIDE were led by Chavez ‘Beto’ Belboda who kept the wolves at bay with 22 pts 6 Rebs 3 steals. Secada ‘Shuggy’ Garroden and Rasheed ‘Logging’ Williams both marshaled the paint with spirited aggression, in continuing their recent surge of actively crashing the boards. The lions got 14 points and 7 rebounds as well as crucial fourth quarter stops from Miguel ‘Sought Out’ Brown.
Sandy Point got off to a hot start with its signature balanced uptempo offense coupled with its guards stepping into passing lanes and getting off to the races early and often. The PRIDE registered 21 points in the first quarter, a shade under it’s per quarter season average of 26 points. It was the WolfPack’s lowest scoring quarter of the season.
The Wolves came back strong in the second half as a mirage of tick tack fouls and unforced turnovers momentarily halted the fast paced attack of PRIDE as play reconvened, however coach Rambo quickly got his starters to refocus and counteracted the opponents runs with timely offensive spurts of their own. Then, it was a matter of the PRIDE holding on and maintaining it’s lead for the remainder of the game!
“For a new club participating in the SKABA league for the first time it’s unprecedented to be off to such a great start! However, as I’ve said before, we have a ton of work today and our goal is to continue improving as a team and organization!” said Coach Rameese.
