The victory lifted Patriots to second in the CPL table, though they have played more matches than both Barbados Tridents and Jamaica Tallawahs.

After being inserted, Patriots lost Evin Lewis early, but recovered through a 54-run, second-wicket stand between Guptill (35) and Dowrich (38). Nathan McCullum fought back strongly for Zouks, collecting 4 for 22 to rattle Patriots’ middle order, but a 16-ball 25 from Devon Thomas, and a seven-ball 20 from Reifer hauled the hosts to 170 for 8.

Andre Fletcher led Zouks’ reply with a brisk half-century, but lacked partners who supported him long enough at the other end. Fletcher muscled four fours and three sixes during his 43-ball 59, but no other player managed to hit more than 16, with the likes of Ross Taylor, Kevin Pietersen and McCullum all failing to fire. Shahid Afridi picked up 2 for 20, including the crucial scalp of Pietersen, while Brathwaite took 3 for 38 to all but seal the win. Zouks were restricted to 144 for 9, meaning they succumbed to their fourth defeat in eight games.
