Basseterre, St.Kitts (October 28th 2016):- The Federation of St.Kitts-Nevis’ ONLY Living National Hero the Rt. Excellent and Rt. Hon. Dr Sir Kennedy A Simmonds has lauded the appointment of the federation;s newest Senator the Hon. Akila Byron-Nisbet. In a brief Statement issued the Rt. Excellent Sir Simmonds praised Byron-Nisbet as an intelligent qualified and dedicated young woman. He also declared that her appointment was a clarion message to the youth of the federation that they are welcomed to partake in all available opportunities.

The statement reads “Lady Simmonds  joins with me in congratulating Mrs. Akilah Byron- Nisbett  as a Senator in our Nation’s Parliament.

She graduated from College with high honours and was always recognised for her exceptional work ethic and dedication to all of her undertakings.

She has the qualifications, intelligence and strength of character to succeed in her new appointment and make a valuable contribution towards making our Country stronger and more sensitive to the concerns of young people and women from all walks of life.


I view her appointment as a clear message to the young people of St. Kitts and Nevis that they are welcome to partake of all the available opportunities for individual growth and development, and be fully assured that their voice will be heard and their concerns addressed.”
