Port of Spain, Trinidad (Timescaribbeanonline.com February 10th 2016):- The undisputed world’s biggest soca act Machel Montano has copped his 8th Road March Title. The Multi-time Power and Groovy Soca Monarch Champions easily copped the title with the song being played a massive 328 timed compared to the second place winner Kes the Band’s “People” which was played 29 times. There was no doubt Montano would win his 8th title as the song was blaring at every turn and at every fete during the entire Trinidad Carnival season which concluded today Ash Wednesday.
The Road March results were confirmed by the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Calypsonian’s Organization (TUCO) on Wednesday afternoon.
“Waiting on the Stage” was played 328 times while Kees’ “People” came in second with 29 plays.
It was also announced today that Montano has grabbed the Downtown Road March title.
Double M had his song played 64 times as opposed to Voice’s “Cheers to Life” which was played 13 times.
People from Kes came in 3rd with 12 plays and Bunji Garlin’s “Across the Stage” was 4th with 7.
