Every year, the Debating Society at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus hosts their Inter-Island debate competition. This year, the St.Kitts-Nevis Students’ Association was represented by President Dennis McCall Jr, and Kamau Grant.
The two young sons of our SKN soil, competed as part of the Upper House Opposition on the moot “This House would allow social media comments to be protected by free speech.” After becoming successful in the preliminary round the male duo proceeded unto the final round competing against representatives from the Bahamas, Guyana and St.Lucia in the impromptu moot “This house believes that individual feminists should reject acts of chivalry”.
In this round they presented arguments as part of the Lower house government and in the end became successful in taking the top spot in this year’s competition!
Last year, team SKNSA only made it to the finals but had not been successful; however the 2017-2018 academic year continues to be a big year for the St.Kitts-Nevis Students’ Association.
