The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Council of Ministers – the Community’s second-highest decision making organ – is meeting in Guyana today, Monday 14 January 2019, with preparations for the upcoming Thirtieth Inter-Sessional Meeting of Heads of Government among matters down for attention.

The 30th Inter-Sessional Meeting of CARICOM Heads takes place in St. Kitts and Nevis on 26-27 February 2019 and the Council, consisting of  Ministers responsible for Community Affairs or other Ministers designated by Member States, has responsibility for approving matters for the agenda of the Meeting.

Monday’s meeting of the Council is also expected to address other matters of importance to the Region, including the Community Results-Based Management System to address implementation concerns.  The Meeting will receive updates on several matters including CARIFESTA XIV to be held in Trinidad and Tobago, 16-25 August 2019, Guyana and Venezuela relations, and post-Brexit negotiations.

The Meeting is being held under the Chairmanship of Hon Vance Amory, Senior Minister and Minister of Labour of St. Kitts and Nevis.
