The People’s Progressive Party Civic said this afternoon that it remains fully confident of a victory and word from the coalition that they are in fact ahead amounts to recklessness.

Presidential Candidate Donald Ramotar said based on their internal tabulations so far, the PPP has won six regions with a total of 182,664 votes against 151,095 for the APNU+AFC. This accounts for some 2,213 Statements of Poll.

Ramotar said the coalition’s announcement is “clearly part of a continuous trend by the opposition to compromise the May 11 elections.”

“Their irresponsible declaration creates a dangerous situation given that GECOM is yet to announce the official results,” he stated.

The party is calling on GECOM and the observers to condemn the actions of the opposition.
