September 4, 2018 BASSETERRE– The St. Kitts and Nevis Chevening Alumni Group extends hearty congratulationsto Mr. Dillon Webbe of Cole Hill, Nevis for copping the prestigious Chevening Scholarship award for 2018-2019. This year, of the hundreds of applicants from the OECS and Barbados sub-region who competed for this award— which fully funds a one-year Master’s degree programme in the United Kingdom— only 10 applicants were successful, and Dillon has earned his place among them.

Dillon, who is a UWI-trained civil engineer, is currently employed at Surrey Paving and Aggregate Ltd. He is also the owner of Bright Light Architectural & Engineering Services, a small business which primarily focuses on sustainable building design. To further equip himself in his field of work, Dillon will pursue an MSc in Built Environment: Environmental Design and Engineering.

According to the leader of the St.Kitts and Nevis Chevening Alumni Group, Mrs. Sonia Boddie-Thompson, “We are extremely excited for Dillon as he embarks on this new journey to complete his postgraduate studies and we wish him every success! Dillon attended our ‘Get Set and Ready for University Seminar’ on Nevis in 2016, and he was keen to learn more about the scholarship and to apply. The group provided him with support during the application process, and we are therefore very happyfor his success!

“Dillon’s selection is particularly special as it makes this the 9th consecutive year that a national of St.Kitts and Nevis has been awarded! This is indeed very commendable, and it is our hope that we can support many more local applicants to secure this unique opportunity!”

The application window for next year’s scholarship is now open until November 6, and the St. Kitts and Nevis Chevening Alumni Group encourages all nationals with a first degree to apply. The group stands ready to assist all applicants— there is no age limit and there is no restriction on what courses you can study.
