Christiansted St. CROIX (September 9th 2015):- — Just days following breakout gun violence on St.Croix and the imposition of a Territory wide  State of Emergency a man was found dead slumped in an Isuzu Rodeo with multiple gunshot wounds about his body.

According to a  press release from the VI Police Department  at about 9:12 p.m., the 911 emergency call center received notification of shots having been fired in the vicinity of a shanty in an area known as Campo Rico.

Responding officers arrived at the location and discovered a black Isuzu Rodeo with an unresponsive black male in the drivers’ seat with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and checked the individual, but found no signs of life.

Police are withholding the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.

According to the report, there is currently no information on the suspect(s) involved and police are asking that anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-712-6024 or 911.

It was only Tuesday that then-Acting Governor Osbert Potter lifted the territory-wide state of emergency declared following the violent weekend.

Potter also ordered the territory’s peace officers, deputized over last weekend to aid the VIPD in its effort to combat the violence, to resume their normal functions with their respective agencies.

The latest victim of the spiralling guncrime in the Virgin Islands was the 25th Homicide for 2015.
