CONTEMPT OF COURT GETS NEVIS NETBALLER EIGHT (8) DAYS IN JAIL

 

  

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 25, 2016, 2015 (RSCNPF):  A National Under 23 Player has been sentenced to eight (8) days in prison for contempt of court.  Her Honour Lorraine Williams was the presiding Judge.

In a case being heard at the High Court in Charlestown, Nevis the former U23 Nevis Team Netballer Kieona Danel a witness in the case of the DPP vs Lawton Forbes was sentenced to eight (8) days in prison after refusing to answer questions put to her by the court.  Daniel was providing testimony in the case stemming from a 2014 robbery of the Xpetrol Gas Station on Nevis.

 

The charges of contempt and the sentence awarded Daniel were in accordance with provisions as set forth in section 51 of the Criminal Procedures Act Chp 4.06.
