Chinese Mother and Daughter with Antigua & Barbuda CIP Passports wanted by Chinese Gov

St.John’s , Antigua (January 26th 2016):- The Antigua Chronicle is reporting that a Chinese mother and daughter, whose names have not yet been ascertained, are under house arrest in Antigua. The two are said to be traveling on Antigua and Barbuda CIP passports.

It is understood that the family arrived on the island some time ago and is being housed at the Grand Royal Antigua Resort on the fourth floor under heavy police and immigration guard.

Reports in the Antigua Observer suggests that the mother was fingered by the Chinese government as being wanted in connection with the leakage of confidential information.

Details of the situation remain sketchy but it is understood that the International Police (Interpol) issued the wanted bulletin.

While they are not officially under arrest, the family are only allowed to leave the hotel under security watch.

A delegation from China are said to be on island and in discussion with the local authorities to begin the extradition procedure.

Antigua Chronicle will continue to follow the developments of this story as it unfolds.
