St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN); Newcomer to the Calypso arena Kendra Hutton, singing as Brown Sugar, dethroned veteran singer Kimara “Lady Diva” Martin Williams to take home the Calypso Queen crown for 2017/2018.
A total of 10 females entered the competition Friday night held at the Circus in downtown Basseterre during the launch ceremony for Sugar Mas 46.

There were some new faces, some veterans, and some not so wet behind the ears. The singers were backed by the Grandmasters band.
Brown Sugar, a Newtown native known for her melodic voice, came up against some Calypso heavy hitters including Gloria Esdaille Robinson- Queeny G and former Queen Kibiane Willett.
Her song “Just Another Day” elicited loud cheers and applause from the large crowd.
The queen amassed 392 points, Karissa Willett, Miss Independent, a former two time Junior Calypso Monarch took first runner-up with 383 points, Lady Diva scored 377 points for second runner-up and the 3rd runner up spot went to Queeny G with 366 points.
The other competitors were Jennifer Demming, Singing Jennifer; Anandee Richards, Lil Miss; Tiandra Francis, Singing Sensation; Sharon Cannonier, Singing Sharon; and Bernice Chapman, Lady B.
