CALVIN PATRICK EMMANUEL FARIER B.Sc (Econ), J.P.

Born in Sandy Point on 15 th February, 1940.
1945 – 1955 :
Attended Sandy Point Boys’ Schoolthrough Sandy Point Senior School Obtained Seventh Standard Certificate and Senior School Leaving Certificate Won the Eagles’ Spelling Bee Island Competition
1955 – 1967 :
Began teaching career as Pupil Teacher at Sandy Point Senior School in April,
1955
Topped the Leeward Islands Teachers’ Exams three (3) times
Obtained, by 1961, Ordinary and Advanced Levels at the London Overseas G.C.E. Exams to qualify for University entrance
Involved in successfully tutoring school leavers at Sandy Point Senior School to write G.C.E. ‘O’ Levels and spearheaded the search to locate a suitable site for the Sandy Point High School
Taught at Sandy Point High School from its inception in 1966 to June 1967
1967 – 1970 :
Won a CIDA Bursary and gained entrance to U.W.I. at the Mona Jamaica Campus, and obtained the B.Sc. (Econ) Degree
Organised the Sandy Point Community Self-Help Group which held free evening classes for grownups; revitalized Easter Monday activities and Christmas carolling and also participated in Carnival (The Sunflower Troupe from the West) Mentored and supported financially and otherwise the Sandy Point Dynamics Band, a group of young musicians forming a Brass Band
1970 – 1980 :
Posted at the Basseterre High School to teach West Indian History, Economics, Accounts and Commerce
Seconded as the first male Principal at the St Theresa’s Convent High School where Accounting, Commerce and Sports were introduced
