Deep Water Harbor, Basseterre, St. Kitts, (Tuesday 5th April 2016) – Yet another Cruise Line has made it’s inaugural call to St.Kitts. The Aida Diva graced the Deep Water Harbor with its inaugural call on Monday depositing 2,500 passengers on the multipurpose pier; while at Port Zante Seven Seas Mariner was present with a capacity of 700 passengers, Anthem of the Seas with 4,100 passengers, while the second inaugural vessel MS Mein Schiff 3 offloaded 1,886, amassing a total of 9, 186 visitors to the capital.
The Aida Diva Visitors were transfixed at the Deep Water Harbor in Bird Rock as the Cayon High School Pantastics steel pan orchestra played sweet rhythmic sounds of reggae and Calypso
Craft vendors too were also present displaying a wide array of Kittitian crafts, art and ornaments.
Amongst the welcoming amenities were bilingual translators – a new initiative from SCASPA, decorated walking sections and driveways, help and information corner and taxi and shuttle assistance for the visitors. SCASPA personnel, advocates from the Tourism Authority, taxi drivers and tour operators were also present to ensure the smooth movement of people while at berth.
In a proud moment, SCASPA’s Sea Port/Cruise Manager had this to say:
“When German Ships like the Aida Diva visit our shores it gives me a new feeling every time. I feel we have met and surpassed expectations especially at a Cargo Facility. Our new translation service has really gone a long way. It is always a great feeling to watch the first person disembarking the ship smile at what we have to offer and that is gratifying enough for me.”
The Aida Diva and the MS Mein Schiff 3 bring our inaugural calls for this season to nineteen.
